Philippines to host Davis Cup series instead of Pakistan
Posted by: Tennis Angle in Davis Cup, NewsPhilippines has got the right to host Davis Cup series instead of Pakistan because of security fears in the wake of the attack on Sri Lanka’s cricket Team. The ITF spokesman Neil Robinson said “The Philippines has been told, ‘It’s your right to host it now. Can you tell us where and when?’ ”
Pakistan had been scheduled to host the first-round series. But the ITF’s security consultant advised it to change the venue to another country. So it was played in the Omani capital of Muscat.
On 3rd March 2009, few gunmen attacked Sri Lanka cricket team’s Bus in Lahore, Pakistan as they were going to the stadium for the match. Six police officers were killed and seven team members injured.
Many events have been pulled out from Pakistan after the attacks. It seems if situation in Pakistan doesn’t improve them many more events will be puled out from the country.
